JusteBio is a French leader in the distribution of dried fruits, seeds and legumes in bulk and consumer bags, specializing in the sale of organic dry food products. The brand has been promoting healthy food for nearly 20 years with more than 140 organic products on the market. Responsible packaging and manufacturing practices were a natural extension of the values that brought JusteBio into the organic market.
When JusteBio realized that flexible plastic packaging is rarely, if ever recycled, they began to search for a compostable alternative that could accommodate their supply chain requirements, making them the first dry-foods brand to incorporate compostable packaging in their supply chain. JusteBio chose, first and foremost, to find a company that could match their scale. To JusteBio ’s great delight, TIPA® had already worked with a converter in France, and TIPA®’s films and laminates run on conventional plastic machinery, which allowed JusteBio to replace their previous packaging without reducing their output, using films sourced locally that could run on their machines.
JusteBio chose open bags and pillow bags made from TIPA®’s commercially compostable laminate, T.LAM 607, for their bulk and consumer lines of dry fruit, nuts, seeds, and more. The packaging provides a necessary barrier to maintain the products’ freshness and the transparency that consumers have come to rely on to see the product inside. As more materials become available, JusteBio hopes to transition into home compostable options from TIPA®.
