Committed to Nature: Fruits & Nuts in Compostable Packs

“The choice of the compostable single-portion pack was received with great interest. Consumers are increasingly aware and informed whenever they make a purchase, they choose quality products and prefer environmentally friendly companies”

Domenico Iozzino
Owner of ZIG

ZIG has been dedicated to dried fruits since the early 1940s. Since then, the Italian family-owned company based in Gragnano, Italy, decided to focus on the freshest flavors coming from every corner of the world, while never compromising the taste, health, and freshness of its products. The brand name, ZIG, was officially born in the late 60s and is now considered the largest industrial company in the dried fruit sector with an ever-increasing demand for its products.

The issue of environmental sustainability at ZIG began with its founder Zenone Iozzino. The growing consumer attention inspired the company to make an eco-sustainable choice starting precisely from their Fruits & Nuts line. ZIG decided to use compostable packaging to maximize its sustainability efforts. To use TÜV OK COMPOST certified biodegradable and compostable packaging, ZIG chose TIPA’s highly transparent compostable film, TIPA 302 with SDR PACK lamination, to preserve the freshness and taste of the content, while still being conscious of the environment.

“The choice of the compostable single-portion pack was received with great interest. Consumers are increasingly aware and informed whenever they make a purchase, they choose quality products and prefer environmentally friendly companies”, says Domenico Iozzino, the current owner of ZIG, “being a healthy snack that offers just the right amount of nutrients, the line Fruits & Nuts manages to satisfy the tastes of all consumers.”

Looking ahead to a sustainable future, ZIG plans to make all their packaging compostable by 2023, while minimizing the corporate impact on the environment and safeguarding our planet.
