Since its founding in 1987, PPG has grown from a small player in flexible packaging to Australia’s leading manufacturer of polyethylene soft plastic films, serving the industrial, agricultural, and food & beverage markets. Listed on the ASX in 2005, PPG has steadily expanded its expertise through acquisitions, including Integrated Packaging in 2017 and Perfection Packaging in 2018. With a strong commitment to innovation and quality, PPG remains dedicated to providing solutions that adapt to the evolving needs of its customers and the planet.

In recent years, PPG has deepened its focus on environmental responsibility, working to establish a leadership position within the circular economy for flexible films. “Our customers’ growing demand for eco-conscious packaging, shifting consumer preferences, and emerging regulations around packaging and plastics motivated us to prioritize greener solutions,” explains Stephanie Thoo, General Manager Innovation & Sustainability at PPG. “As a company, we understand the importance of a strong social license to operate, and TIPA’s compostable packaging plays a crucial role in helping us achieve this.”

PPG’s customers have responded positively to its green initiatives. “Many of our clients are enthusiastic about compostable packaging, as it helps them meet their environmental targets, such as the 2025 National Packaging Targets and carbon emission reduction goals,” Stephanie adds. “While some remain cautious due to ongoing packaging reform legislation, we anticipate that once these regulations are finalized, even more customers will adopt eco-friendly packaging to secure their volumes.”

Committed to offering versatile and responsible solutions, PPG has expanded its portfolio with TIPA’s compostable films, tailored for a range of applications. “We produce compostable food-grade bags, like produce such as grapes and bread bags, as well as non-food-grade options for retail,” notes Adam Jeffries, Business Manager ‑ Produce, Horticulture & Agriculture at PPG . “TIPA’s innovative compostable films provide an environmentally friendly alternative that meets the quality and functionality PPG’s customers expect.”

Beyond compostables, PPG embraces a comprehensive approach to greener practices, exploring diverse technologies such as material optimization, virgin material reduction, recyclability, and recycled content. “There’s no one-size-fits-all solution in packaging responsibility,” Adam explains. “We work closely with each customer to evaluate their specific packaging needs and determine the best eco-conscious approach for them.”

PPG serves a broad range of industries, from SMEs to large corporations in food and beverage, industrial, agriculture, health, and pharmaceuticals. By integrating TIPA’s compostable solutions and other responsible practices, PPG continues to be a leader in flexible packaging, helping customers meet their environmental goals while reinforcing its commitment to innovation and progress.
