In 2015, despite the fact that Snact prevented more than 50 tonnes of apples, bananas, blueberries, and raspberries from going to landfill by creating snacks from the surplus, their clients kept returning the same question “why is Snact being sold in plastic pouches?”
Snact is a company that redirects surplus produce that would otherwise be discarded and produces healthy, delicious snack pouches and bars. “Since our inception we’ve been trying to come up with a way to package our products sustainably.” Says Ilana Taub, founder of Snact. “We launched our previous packaging with traditional plastic because we struggled to find an environmentally-friendly option that was food safe and had the functional properties required.”
TIPA’s® compostable plastic food packaging allowed Taub switch to a waste-free alternative that was just as durable and impermeable as ordinary plastic, making it safe to use for packaging food, and fully compostable. It ensured that Snact’s packaging matched the ethos of the company: promoting sustainability by reducing waste.
